June 2, 1925 - March 3, 2022
Lenore Acosta (Mom, Grannie, G.G.), loving mother of four children, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the age of 96. She was born on June 2, 1925 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Clarence and Angela Kienlen. She was the first-born girl of eight children. After briefly living in New Jersey while she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse, Lenore returned to Idaho and subsequently moved to Sacramento, California where she met and married Thomas Acosta. Together they moved to Southern California and set up their family home in Redlands. Lenore was a 55-year resident of Redlands and especially loved the climate and stunning mountain views. She dedicated her life to her family, serving others, and to her career in nursing. While soft-spoken, she was also fearless and lived every moment as precious and every minute as valuable. An avid walker, Lenore also pursued many other activities, including Tai Chi, puzzle solving, and writing short stories and poetry. She had a quick and subtle wit requiring you to listen closely or miss her clever turn of a phrase. By far, however, Lenore’s favorite activity was to “sit long and talk much” with her family and friends. Lenore was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Acosta; her parents Clarence and Angela Kienlen, as well as her brothers Joe, Jack, and Bruce Kienlen. She is survived by her children Carol (and Chuck) Farrar of Riverside, California; Ysabelle (and Mark) Haggard of Colorado; Greg Acosta (and Monja Mestlin) of Riverside, California; and Sarah (and Ed) Soto, of Santa Barbara, California; as well as her seven granddaughters, two grandsons, and two great grandsons; and her sisters Madge (and Ray) Holmer of Idaho, Wini Herda of Minnesota, Nancy Gamble of Ohio, and her brother Fred (and Rose) Kienlen, of Idaho. Funeral services will be on Tuesday March 29th • Rosary: 9:00 A.M. - Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church at 115 W. Olive in Redlands • Funeral Mass: 9:30 A.M. - Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church at 115 W. Olive in Redlands • Graveside: 11:00 A.M. - Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands.
